Sawdust Hearts

This is the most amazing tribute to the soldiers of WW1,  1,568 hearts (one for each day of the war) made by crafters from all over the UK are displayed together in one room. Five of our regular guests here (Sandra, Rhona, Caroline, Tania and Pippa) contributed to the exhibition which is in Scarborough and runs until 30th November 2018. Hand turned wood chess set

Culli has made a really beautiful chess set. The Crusader set is made from Cherry and Laburnum and will be available to order soon! Just waiting for one of us to come up with the ultimate board, either a wooden one (him) or a bound leather one (me).............

Spring at La Verderie

At last Spring seems to be here.

I have just been for a walk with BeBop in glorious sunshine and clear blue skies, it is the day after St George's day and the dandelions seem to have changed overnight from brilliant yellow to white fluffy balls, the bluebells are starting to come out and there is blossom everywhere.

We have a few days rest before the next knitting and crochet retreat at La Verderie which starts on 5th May, there is still one space available if anyone fancies a last minute escape to sunny France? Spend the week relaxing with your knitting or crochet, pick up some new tips or have a go at machine knitting. Christmas is coming

In fact it has already arrived at La Verderie, Culli has put his wood working talents into making some hand crafted Christmas decs and we are now surrounded by angels, reindeer, polar bear families and christmas trees. They are all available to order on KnitKits and will be on show at the Christmas exhibition here in November.

I am just completing the final angel design with knitted lace wings, pics to follow soon.
We have just had our four legged friend Jasper to stay for the week, he is a 14 year old retriever, a bit wobbly in the hind quarters but still has true retriever enthusiasm for walks, food and getting in the way when you are cooking.
