Knitting and crochet retreats

We have just come to the end of another week of knitting and crochet at La Verderie. The week started with cancelled flights and rain showers but Sue and Mary managed to get on alternative flights the following morning and arrived just before the other three guests.

The weather has not been brilliant for June, but we managed a few outings in the dry and a few afternoons in the garden, the rest of the time was spent concentrating on projects.

We seem to have achieved masses in a week, shopping in St Jean d'Angely and Saintes, Cognac tasting and an outing to the knitting and stitching show in Niort, not quite Ally Pally but worth the drive.

Everyone came along with a variety of projects. Sue was working on a lovely rib sweater from one of the Pompom magazines which should have been in brioche stitch, but we all came to the conclusion that Fisherman's rib would be far easier, she also managed to produce a bunny from one of the wonderful Little cotton rabbits patterns

and a bit of crochet

Mary was working on two amazing shawls

Pat knitted the tiniest cardigan for one of triplets due in August

plus a few small accessories to sell on her craft stall

Diane and Heather were both knitting the same shawl pattern in sparkly and sequinned yarns

and Heather very nearly finished a fab knitted basket in chunky wool mixed with a cotton lurex blend.

In between all the knitting, crochet and gossip we have managed to eat vast amounts, drink a few glasses of wine and celebrate BeBop's 13th birthday,
