Knitting and crochet workshop in France with tutor Carol Meldrum

The sun is shining at last! Our guests arrived yesterday, Sue, Jacqui and Purl are all returning guests from last year and have brought along their friend Veronica for a week of knitting and crochet, they arrived here early afternoon and were soon settled around the garden table with their knitting, bottles of wine and olives. Tutor Carol Meldrum arrived just in time for supper of smoked salmon mousse, chicken and fennel cassoulet and chocolate torte with strawberries.

Today Carol took everyone through the basics of crochet, starting with a simple swatch using double, treble, double treble and half treble crochet stitches in the morning, with a break for a sunny alfresco lunch then an afternoon of making crochet flowers using the stitches practised in the swatch. The results were fantastic and all so different, simply through colour choice and the final row of edging.

Culli has also been a busy boy woodturning and has produced another lovely bowl.

Having demolished a Sunday roast we all sat around putting the world to rights for a few hours before crawling off to bed. Tomorrow the market in Saintes and then crochet in the round.
