28th February
It's the end of another month and February went out with a bang. We had a really violent storm here in the Charente Maritime on Saturday night, this photo taken yesterday afternoon shows how lucky we were to escape with just a few large puddles in our area. The highest wind gust recorded in the region was 159 km, there are a lot of roof tiles on the ground and there has been very bad flooding just to the west of us.
Hopefully our little boat has survived without any damage, we went down to the marina at Royan on Saturday to make sure she was well secured and will go and check again this afternoon.
The forecast is now saying that the temperature will go back to zero at the weekend, where is spring? I want to get out in my garden.
At least the house painting is coming on well, the snug is nearly finished which is just as well as we have had lots of enquiries for the knitting groups in the autumn. The dates for Spring 2011 will be going up on the website this week.
